It was controversial enough for the Trump family — minus Ivanka and Jared Kushner — to spend the holiday weekend in Florida at their Mar-a-Lago resort, but Donald Trump Jr. made things even worse when he posted on social media about how he was getting home.
Trump Jr. tweeted about riding home from Florida on Air Force One on Sunday afternoon, saying that it had been an “incredible experience.”

The eldest Trump child also posted a video showcasing the plane on Instagram.

Leaving Air Force One after our trip back from Florida with @realdonaldtrump. Incredible experience to be able to experience taking a trip on that storied plane for the first time. Hope you all had an equally great weekend and for those who celebrate it, a great Easter. #easter #familytime #family #weekend #airforce #af1 #airforceone
Of all the Trump children, the younger Donald appears to be the worst when it comes to setting himself up for failure on social media. Trump Jr. has been criticized many times for posting insensitive or poorly thought out messages, and yet he still seems incapable of thinking before he tweets. Today was no different, and many Twitter and Instagram users were quick to question Trump Jr.’s judgment in gloating about his free ride on Air Force One.
The majority of comments on Twitter and Instagram centered around chastising Trump Jr. for what has been viewed by many as a gratuitous spending of taxpayer dollars. The Trumps have taken a number of vacations since the inauguration in January, and the amount of money it costs for them to be protected by the Secret Service on these trips is outrageous.
In addition to the hundreds of thousands of dollars that have so far been spent on hotel accommodations and rental cars for the Secret Service, CBS recently found that over $35,000 has been spent on golf cart rentals for the people who protect the president and his children.
With numbers like that being thrown around, it’s no wonder so many people were quick to take out their frustrations on social media. Some of the best responses to Trump Jr.’s Twitter and Instagram posts can be seen below.
With a record deficit & $20 trillion in debt, your family spending $84 million of Tax payers money on your family vacations so far is wrong!

Hope you enjoyed the taxpayer funded vacation while millions are homeless, starving, can't get basic services. Is this #makingamericagreat
