Bill O’Reilly, Steve Bannon, Melania Trump, Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and every single person who continues to enable Donald Trump’s ignorance, serves as bitter reminders that “Birds of a feather, flock together.” No matter how dirty, grimy, or unable to fly because they’re weighed down with filth, those nasty feathers stay together.
For example, earlier this week, proving himself to be a textbook ignoramus, Donald Trump asked:
‘Why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?’
After all, those slaves were treated well and the North wasn’t losing any money at all to the booming agricultural South that the slaves made possible, right? Moreover, the Confederacy was probably totally willing to talk things out, give up their slaves, and reach an amicable resolution. According to Trump, yes to both of the above.
Trump didn’t stop there with this comments, he went on to compare himself to Andrew Jackson:
‘I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later you wouldn’t have had the Civil War. . .he had a big heart. He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War, he said, “There’s no reason for this.'”
Perhaps confirming rumors that he is riding Trump’s coattails with the hopes of getting a cabinet spot, O’Reilly voiced his support of Trump’s gross historical inaccuracies:
President Trump is right about Andrew Jackson and the Civil War, the morons on cable news are wrong.
— Bill O’Reilly (@billoreilly) May 2, 2017
What neither Trump nor O’Reilly were astute enough to realize was that among other falsehoods about Trump’s statement, Andrew Jackson was dead before the start of the Civil War. Nevertheless, O’Reilly had more to say:
‘You may have seen a bunch of people on cable news, and that’s one of the reasons I don’t really miss it, saying that President Trump is a moron for saying that Andrew Jackson might have prevented the Civil War because of Jackson’s skills in running the country. So Dan Rather, who knows very little about history, and others go out and they hammer Trump like he’s a moron.’
Note to Bill O’Reilly: People “hammer Trump like he’s a moron” because he acts and speaks like a moron.
