Beloved Songwriter Tells Trump Supporters ‘You Don’t Belong With The Rest Of Us’

Renowned multi-instrumentalist Todd Rundgren is fully prepared to offend Trump supporters and doesn’t seem to care much about it. He suggested in a recent Variety interview that Trump supporters might as well just stay away from his shows altogether, because Rundgren is going to speak down on Trump, and if you’re a hypersensitive Trump supporter, you’re likely to get offended.

Rundgren’s interviewer asked him about his take on Trump supporters interacting with his music, saying: “When I saw you perform in Los Angeles last year… right after you made some remarks about your feelings about Trump, the couple next to me angrily walked out. You left the impression that doesn’t bother you.”

The musician responded by asserting that his interviewer was right.

He said:

‘If I had the power, I’d say: If you’re a Trump supporter, don’t come to my show, because you won’t have a good time… I guarantee that in this show, if you’re a Trump supporter, you will likely be offended. Let the buyer beware! I mean, if you can’t take a joke, or you can’t admit that you’ve made a mistake, you don’t belong with the rest of us.’

Rundgren also all but spoke for all the rest of us in saying that he just doesn’t understand what can possess people to lead them to support someone like Donald Trump, who has done everything from literally brag about sexually assaulting women to propose monstrous policies that stand to strip healthcare from tens of millions of people.

Rundgren said, speaking as if to Trump supporters: “I don’t understand your frickin’ values. Because I’m not singing about that. If you don’t understand that basic thing, you’re just fooling yourself.”

The musician, who has been active for decades and has just newly invigorated his career with a new album, stands to offend a likely large amount of Trump supporters without even saying anything new.

In a song off his aforementioned newly released album, Rundgren skewers Trump, calling him the “man in the tin foil hat.”

The song says: “He’s coming down the escalator with a girl from east of here, because the man in the tin foil hat is leading like a teenage girl. He put’s the ‘pluto’ in plutocrat, he hasn’t got time for losers, unless they do what he demands.”
