Trump Refuses To Respond To Reporters During Tuesday Press Conference (VIDEO)

Trump’s national security adviser has given two separate press statements excusing the president’s carelessness in leaking highly classified information to Russian Prime Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in a closed-door meeting in the Oval Office on May 10. On Tuesday, it was Trump’s turn to respond.

He didn’t, though.

During Trump’s statement, given during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, called his meeting with the Russians “successful” and avoided giving any statement on his leaks. He refused to answer any questions and ended the press conference quickly after Erdogan’s statements.

The Washington Post reported on Monday that:

‘The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.’

The ally who gave this particular intelligence to the United States had not given permission for it to be shared with Russian government officials, and the information was so sensitive that even sharing it with other U.S. officials was restricted. McMaster told the press corps on Tuesday that Trump wasn’t even aware of where the intelligence originated or who had shared it with the U.S.

Trump furiously responded to the news of his leaks on Twitter on Tuesday morning, insisting that he’s done nothing wrong that the has has the “absolute right” to divulge classified information to whomever he wants in his quest for national security against ISIS.

Trump’s statements follow his endless rants against his political rival during the 2016 presidential elections, Hillary Clinton, over investigations into reports that she used a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state under President Obama and that classified information may have been shared over that server. To date, no evidence exists that Clinton’s email server was ever breached, yet chants of “lock her up” echoed throughout Trump’s rally appearances.

The fallout over Trump’s leaks continues.
