The Republican hypocrisy has reared its ugly head once again, and this might be its most blatant display yet. When President Obama met with the Saudi king in 2009, conservatives attacked him for “bowing.” On Saturday, President Trump appeared to curtsy before the king after receiving the King Abdul Aziz Collar, a bow-like action that has been celebrated rather than scorned.
A video of the president’s odd behavior can be seen below, via Twitter.

Many conservatives aren’t even talking about the curtsy at all, according to BuzzFeed. Instead, they’re praising Trump for not bowing when he first greeted the king and praising the first lady, Melania Trump, for not wearing a hijab during the visit.

In addition to not acknowledging the curtsy, the folks on Twitter have ignored the fact that, as the photo below shows, Michelle Obama also did not wear a hijab when she visited Saudi Arabia in 2015.
Conservatives have also conveniently forgotten that President Trump once criticized Barack and Michelle Obama for doing the same things he and his wife did today.
Trump ripped into Obama for “bowing” to the Saudi king in 2012.
‘Do we still want a President who bows to the Saudis and lets OPEC rip us off? Make America strong, vote for @MittRomney.’

He also attack Michelle Obama for insulting the people of Saudi Arabia by not covering her hair.
‘Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted. We have enuf enemies.’

Plenty of people have pointed out the blatant hypocrisy of President Trump and his followers on social media, as can be seen in the tweets below.
Oh my.. Trump bowing to a foreign king?? But the right went nuts when Obama did. Where's the outrage deplorables? https://t.co/Yw7QTTyfY7

Although the right has been, for the most part, silent about this hypocrisy, a few have stepped in to try and defend the president. Take, for example, the person shown below, who argued that today’s situation was “not like Obama’s bow.”
‘Wow you are stupid. Trump is a good foot taller and younger than the Saudi. He bent to receive a medal. That was not like Obama’s bow.’
That excuse is about as valid as Sean Spicer’s when he tried to explain that Trump’s golfing differs from Obama’s. Fortunately, as the poll from Buzzfeed shown below illustrates, it doesn’t seem like too many people are buying it.
