Trump Tweets Phony Belgium Praise After Calling It A ‘Hellhole’ – Internet Slays Him

President Trump’s Wednesday morning visit with the Pope did not go particularly well. Things seem to be better in Belgium, though, at least according to his most recent Twitter post.

On Wednesday afternoon, Trump retweeted a post from the Belgian Royal Palace.

The original tweet, which can be seen below, commented on the “good meeting” that took place today.

‘Good meeting with @POTUS Donald Trump and @FLOTUS Melania Trump at the Royal Palace of #Brussels #Belgium.’

Trump added his own thank you for the “warm welcome” that he received.

‘Thank you for the warm welcome to Brussels, Belgium this afternoon!’

Trump seemed quite pleased to be in Belgium, despite having once called the city of Brussels a “hell hole.”

In January, shortly after his inauguration, Trump told Fox Business Network anchor Maria Bartiromo about the city’s struggles with terrorism:

‘You go to Brussels — I was in Brussels a long time ago, 20 years ago, so beautiful, everything is so beautiful — it’s like living in a hellhole right now.’

Brussels residents have made it clear that they are not happy with President Trump visiting their city. Brussels capital police have confirmed that 9,000 attended a rally on Wednesday protesting Trump’s visit.

Plenty of others have commented on Trump’s presence in the city — and just expressed their general disdain for him — via Twitter.

Maybe Trump’s Belgium visit isn’t going as well as he thought.
