Obama Vs Trump Vacation Expenses Released, Numbers Are Outrageous (STATS)

Trump loves to bash Obama, that fact is well known. So much so, in fact, that not all that long ago, he took to Twitter to claim that he had “inherited a mess” after assuming office from his predecessor.

Trump has frequently criticized President Obama for “playing golf all day” while serving as president.

For a man who seemingly can’t keep former President Barack Obama’s name out of his mouth, a comparison of their presidential travel expenditures seems fitting.

According to new reports, not even three months into his presidential tenure, Trump has cost U.S. taxpayers at least $24 million to cover expenses for trips to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm, Beach Florida nearly every weekend. To put that in perspective, President Obama spent approximately $24 million on travel over the first two years of his time in office. Since taking office, Trump has spent 9 out of 11 weekends at a Trump-owned property.

According to the Independent UK, Obama spent $97 million on travel expenses over his two-term presidency, which equates to an average of $12.1 million each year. Trump, however, has spent double what Obama spent per year, in less than 3 months.

Let’s not forget to mention the fact that New York City has also been footing the bill for First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron to live in New York until he finishes school. According to the New York Police Department, it costs taxpayers between $127,000 and $146,000 per day in security costs to protect Melania and Barron.

Currently, there’s a Change.org petition calling for the Trumps to foot the bill of the first lady living in the Big Apple.

The petition reads:

‘This petition is to request Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bill De Blasio refuse the cost President-Elect Donald Trump is requesting so his wife can remain in New York.

‘The New York taxpayers refuse to pay over $1 million a day so she can stay. If this decision has been made, between the two of them they should be the ones to pay for it. Not New York taxpayer dollars that could be used on roads, schools, transit, sanitation, new jobs and other expenses that the city has.’

The Trump administration set out a budget proposal with tax cuts to several government departments, including cuts to education and the arts. The administration has also pledged to increase military spending by $54 billion. As the Independent UK notes, if Trump’s travel costs weren’t so high, he wouldn’t need to make such drastic cuts.

Trump can try to paint Obama as some sort of villain if he chooses, but the facts and numbers speak for themselves.
