JUST IN: Horrific Mass Shooting Rocks America Overnight; At Least 8 Killed Including Cop

An individual who appears to be mentally unstable has killed eight people in Mississippi, including a police officer. A local news outlet reports that the suspect, who was captured by police early Sunday morning, says that he carried out the killings because he “loved his wife and children and he loves Bogue Chitto.”

Bogue Chitto appears to be a state park in Louisiana.

The African-American suspect, Cory Goldbolt, seems to have shot dead a police officer and then fled from police, killing the rest of his victims at three different locations throughout Lincoln County, Mississippi.

Neither the police officer nor the rest of the victims who are among the dead have been named.

The United States is by far one of the most dangerous places in the world in terms of vulnerability to gun violence. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been some 133 mass shootings since January 1, 2017. That’s about one every 2-3 days.

6,054 people have died from gun violence in the United States as of May 28, according to the Gun Violence Archive. That’s dozens of people a day.

As mentioned, the suspect in the Mississippi killings comes across as mentally unstable, but there has been no apparent information about the suspect released by authorities outside of his name and his image.
