If Trump really intended his presidency to be a boon for his public image, that plan is failing miserably, having been all but sent up in smoke by his seemingly eternally conniving associates and his own utter ineptitude. One could say that the Trump presidency is headed down the same path that Trump branded steaks took.
A new poll measuring the public’s approval of what Trump is doing has the President’s approval rating at yet another new low.
The poll, released earlier this week by Investor’s Business Daily/TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (IBD/TIPP), says that only 37 percent of the public approves of the job that the President is doing, while the same poll had his approval rating at 39 percent last month.
This poll, which was conducted over the period of May 30 through June 6, also measured the public’s opinion on issues that are important to Trump’s agenda, at least in theory. For instance, the poll measured support for the ideas of imposing a work requirement for food stamps recipients and of capping Medicaid spending.
Remarkably, a significantly larger portion of the American populace approves of both of the aforementioned propositions than approves of the job that President Trump is doing in office. This discrepancy is, quite simply, easily explainable, with the President long having shown himself to be somewhat of an inept fool when it comes to actually getting things done. He doesn’t know what he’s doing, and voters, even those who might lean towards his side, aren’t impressed.
The poll had 55 percent of the general public, 70 percent of Republicans, and 44 percent of Democrats supporting cutting federal Medicaid spending. Even more notably, perhaps, the majority of every single demographic breakdown in the poll supports adding a work requirement to the food stamps program.
What this helps indicate is just how out of touch the Trump Administration really is. The country is largely united on a number of important issues, but the President isn’t in touch with any of that, preferring to stick to his rambling and efforts to improve his public image.
No recent polls show much anything better approval rating-wise for the Trump Administration, with Trump having already reached the record low for a President at this point in their administration.
The Huffington Post average of polls measuring Trump’s approval rating — which doesn’t seem to include the latest IBD/TIPP poll — has the President’s approval rating at about 40 percent, with it having moved gradually downward over time.
