BREAKING: Panic Erupts After Police Van Rammed By Exploding Vehicle (DETAILS)

A police operation is underway in the Champs-Elysees region of Paris after a car crashed into a police van and exploded a short time ago.

The public is advised avoid the area. The driver was reported at one point to be in custody, but is now said to be “very likely dead.” Beyond the driver, there are no reports of any casualties.

Terror attacks such as this one have been rocking Europe throughout the first months of 2017. French police have been targeted in the past, and there have also been incidents such as the car ramming attack earlier this year in London which left a number of people dead outside the British Parliament building.

More recently, a number of people were killed after terrorists drove a van into a crowd of people on the London Bridge and then got out and went on a stabbing spree.

One French police officer was killed and two others were wounded in an attack in the same area of Paris earlier this year. In that incident, a gunman who had declared allegiance to ISIS opened fire on a police van and wounded a number of people.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the latest incident yet.

As this is a developing story, check back for updates.
