Twitter Just Reminded Ivanka That Chinese Kids Make Her Products & It’s Hilarious

People have trouble with the hypocrisy of Ivanka Trump making human trafficking her big cause. After all, she uses Chinese sweatshop children to manufacture her clothing line. The president’s daughter has a curious job, sitting next to her father’s office to keep him as stable as possible, but also participating in international meetings. Ivanka is not paid, yet she still profits from her product lines, and tweeters see right through her.

Trump sent out this tweet endorsing a group of individuals who made ending human trafficking their life’s work:

‘These courageous crusaders have committed themselves to #EndTrafficking around the globe.’

At the same time, the Trump administration downgraded China for doing too little to stop human trafficking. Politico reported that the president’s daughter said:

‘The stories of those we honor today demonstrate why combating this crime here in the United States as well as around the world, is in both our moral and strategic interests.’

The 2017 Trafficking in Persons Report provides a tool for all countries to see where they and others rank in their attempts and successes in ending trafficking. The State Department placed China in Tier 3 along with Russia and Syria, the lowest of all categories. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson co-hosted the anti-human trafficking event at the White House with Ivanka. According to Politico, he said:

‘[China] has not taken serious steps to end its own complicity in trafficking.’

Part of the reason Tillerson downgraded China was its failure to hold North Korea accountable for its forced labor. Politico reported that the secretary also said:

‘The North Korean regime receives hundreds of millions of dollars a year from the fruits of forced labor.’

The 2017 report also showed countries that had child soldiers under the Child Soldiers Prevention Act List. It seems Tillerson dropped Iraq and Burma [Myanmar] from the list. However, he overruled his State Department’s wish to add Afghanistan. Human rights activists questioned the report’s objectivity.

Fortunately, people burned a path tweeting in response to Ivanka Trump’s self-congratulatory and hypocritical tweet. Check out how they held her feet to the fire:

Hopefully, Ivanka Trump will learn from her cause.
