Billionaire Donald Trump has made his fortune buying and selling real estate and building some of the world’s most luxurious hotels; so, it’s funny to hear that Trump had no where to stay after arriving in Germany. Trump owns several luxury hotels in several countries, but none in Hamburg, where he found himself without lodging. Trump, who is currently attending the G20 Summit being hosted in Germany, has reportedly been reduced to staying at a government-owned Senate guest house in Hamburg. The Hamburger Abendblatt reported that U.S. officials hoped to accommodate the president at the Four Seasons, but the Four Seasons and every other luxury hotel had been booked by the time U.S. officials tried to book.
Trump and his team believe that the Obama administration is to blame for the for the mix up. According to a report by the DailyMail, one U.S. official said:
‘Obama’s people left everyone high and dry. They didn’t care enough to make sure whoever was president would have a place to stay.’
Though it appears that that is hardly the case. According to a survey conducted by Buzzfeed, many of the world’s leaders booked their rooms in advance. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman booked all 156 guest rooms at the Four Seasons for himself and his entire entourage including: the kings golden escalator and camels for fresh milk. Vladimir Putin and the prime ministers of South Korea and Australia all reserved their accommodations at The Park Hyatt. Le Meridien was booked by U.K. prime minister Theresa May and will be hosting two other delegations. French president Emmanuel Macron and Erna Solberg from Norway have taken the entire Mövenpick Hotel.
Some members of Trump’s team were a bit more understanding one U.S. official said:
‘The funny thing is that the U.S. delegation probably also wouldn’t have had hotel rooms if Hillary Clinton had become president. It was already too late by Election Day.’
Trump since arriving in Germany, has already met and had a lengthy meeting with Vladimir Putin. Melania also kept busy, dinning with Putin as well shaking hands with other leaders. During Trumps’ meeting with Putin they discussed the Russian election hacking and came to an agreement to have limited ceasefire in Syria.
