JUST IN: Articles Of Impeachment Were Submitted To Take Down Trump For ‘Obstruction Of Justice’

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) has been willing to pay the ultimate price in his quest to bring Donald Trump and any of his associates who are guilty of colluding with the Russian government to justice. In May, after Green called for Trump’s impeachment on the House floor, then vowed to file articles of impeachment and see them through to the fullest extent of the law, Green and his family faced racially motivated death threats.

Unbothered, unbought, and unbossed, Green hasn’t backed down from his quest to ensure that, if guilty, Trump and any other guilty parties are held accountable. Holding true to his word, Green is once again making his intentions clear. This time he went on MSNBC’s AM Joy to explain the basis of his plans and outline his next steps; quite frankly, those next steps are simple – Green submitted articles of impeachment and will advocate for its support.

When asked about Nancy Pelosi’s (D-NY) bill of particulars and its possible connection to Green’s articles of impeachment, he replied:

‘Let me start by saying that Mr. Kushner is the de facto secretary of state, he is a psuedo Minister Plenipotentiary. He seems to have an inordinate amount of influence and a person with such influence has to be judged by the influence that he has. He should not be in the position he is in and quite frankly, he should have his security clearance suspended or revoked. I agree with what Speaker Pelosi said.’

Specifically speaking about his articles of impeachment, Green stated:

‘My articles of impeachment are going to deal with obstruction of justice. They deal with obstruction of justice in the political sense, because quite candidly speaking, many of the scholars that have been on programs, have confused people. I don’t think it was done with intentionality, but they have confused people because they’ve used a legal standard for impeachment. If you’ll go to Federalist 65, you’ll find that the standard for impeachment has more to do with politics than it has to do with a judicial standard.’

He then explains that he won’t have Speaker Pelosi’s specific instance in his articles, but he will have some related issues that allow him to meet the standards in Federalist 65. Green also alludes to the possibility of subsequent articles of impeachment being filed.

An esteemed and well-respected attorney, Green isn’t dumb to the law. Moreover, he is one of the few D.C. lawmakers who is actively taking steps to ensure that anyone involved in Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia and possible obstruction of justice by terminating James Comey is held accountable. GOP legislators could definitely take pages from the books of Al Green and Nancy Pelosi.
