Apparently, the staunchly pro-Trump elements of the GOP are only feeling more and more empowered in their belligerence. A member of the Republican National Committee from Nevada tweeted support on Monday for a blog post that literally wishes that U.S. Senator from Arizona John McCain would “just f*cking die already.”
The original Twitter post, from blogger Caitlin Johnstone, is below.

Nevada RNC member Diana Orrock’s added comment, reading simply “Amen,” is documented below by journalist Victoria McGrane. The original post from Orrock has been deleted.

Sen. McCain underwent surgery recently for a blood clot above his left eye, and he is currently recovering. Apparently, however, that’s not enough for Johnstone and Orrock, who wish that he would have died.
The vitriolic blog post from Johnstone reads, in part as follows:
‘A study by the Journal of Patient Safety says that somewhere between 210,000 and 440,000 patients die every year as a result of medical errors. If there was a God, murderous warmongering neocon John McCain would have been one of them.’
Johnstone’s reasoning for why she wishes McCain would just die already is because of his wide, broad support for overseas military excursions on the part of the United States. Like any good internet agenda peddler, she comes armed with a chart, taken from Mother Jones and showcasing what countries McCain has supported military action in at some point in his career.
You can check that out below.
McCain, through his commitment to preserving the United States’s power status in the world, has been a vocal opponent of Trump’s softness on Russia, a nation that has long been a major adversary of ours. This opposition to a key part of Trump’s foreign policy has earned him widespread criticism from many pro-Trump elements of the GOP.
Taking their criticism this far, however, is new. It remains to be seen whether there will be the same kind of backlash against this tweet as there was against the leak of a recording featuring a Democratic staffer from the Midwest stating that he wishes that the attacker who shot up a recent Congressional baseball game would have been more “successful” and actually killed some GOP Congressman.
Will Orrock lose her job over this Twitter post? Only time will tell. In the meantime, check out Twitter’s reaction to the post.
