Anthony Scaramucci is making his rounds on Sunday morning talk shows, but he probably should have given up at his gigantic failure of an interview with Jake Tapper on ‘State of the Union.’ That interview was an eye opening view of just how unqualified, and just generally bad, the new White House communications director is at communicating.
However, instead of stopping while he was behind, Scaramucci continued on to the next outlet. On ‘Fox News Sunday,’ Scaramucci sat with Chris Wallace, who asked him why the president would tweet about having the power to pardon any and all criminals if no crimes had been committed.
Scaramucci’s response is dumbfounding:
“This is one of those things about Washington, the convolution and the nature of things. I’m in the Oval Office with the president last week and we were talking about that, he says he brought that up, but he doesn’t have to be pardoned, there’s nobody around him that has to be pardoned. He was just making the statement about the power of the pardon.”
“Now, all of the speculation and all of the spin is he’s going to pardon himself. The president does not need to pardon himself. And the reason he doesn’t need to pardon himself is he hasn’t done anything wrong.”
There’s just one problem. At that very same moment, Trump’s lawyer, Jay Sekulow, was giving an interview with ABC. He was also saying the exact opposite of what Scaramucci was saying. Sekulow said:
“I want to be clear on this, we have not, and continue to have not, conversations with the President of the United States regarding pardons. Pardons have not been discussed and pardons are not on the table.”
“We’re not researching the issue, because the issue of pardons is not on the table. There is nothing to pardon from.”
Good thing he clarified that last part for Trump’s beloved uneducated.
