On Wednesday morning, President Trump announced that the military would no longer “accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity.” Not surprisingly, this declaration has been met with a significant amount of criticism.
During Wednesday’s White House press briefing — the first solo briefing for newly appointed press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders — many reporters wanted to know what led Trump to make such a decision.
All Huckabee Sanders was able to tell the press with regards to the announcement was that it was “a military decision.” After receiving multiple follow up questions that she couldn’t answer, Sanders grew flustered and threatened to end the briefing altogether. She told reporters:
‘As I’ve said before and I’ll try to make this clear, this was a military decision. This was about military readiness, this was about unit cohesion, this was about resources within the military, and nothing more.
‘Guys, I really don’t have anything else to add on that topic. As I do, I’ll keep you posted. But if those are the only questions we have, I’m going to call it a day.’
So far, she’s not doing any better than her predecessor when it comes to handling difficult questions.

The press was not very pleased with how Huckabee Sanders handled the questions, and neither were the folks on Twitter.
