Just when you thought that the Trump presidency couldn’t get any more out there, Golf.com published a profile of the president that detailed an incident when he called the White House “a real dump.” Ttump explained to members of his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club why he spends so many weekends away from the presidential residence.
Besides these remarks, Trump reportedly spoke glowingly to the members of his gold club of their status in his world, saying:
‘This is my real group. You are the special people. I see all of you. I recognize, like, 100% of you, just about.’
Chelsea Clinton has now joined those calling out the president for his ridiculous remarks about the White House.
Writing on Twitter this Wednesday, she said:
‘Thank you to all the White House ushers, butlers, maids, chefs, florists, gardeners, plumbers, engineers & curators for all you do every day.’

Ironically, there has already been a relatively high profile run-in between the Trump Administration and White House maintenance staff. Earlier this year, Trump abruptly fired the White House Chief Usher, Angella Reid, who was the first African American woman to serve in the position in its over one hundred years of existence.
Her firing was eventually explained as a result of Reid supposedly being difficult for other White House staff to work with. It’s worth noting, however, that she’d been in her position for about six years at the time of her firing, and if there really was such a problem, why wasn’t she fired before?
Trump has spent two full weeks at just his Bedminster golf club as of the beginning of August, and he’s likely to spend more time there soon because of his Florida Mar-A-Lago resort’s winter closing. He’s spent a total of 43 days at his golf courses since taking office as of August 2, a number that translates into over one-fifth — 22 percent, to be exact — of his time in office.
That’s right; Trump evidently thinks that the White House is such a “dump” that he’s spent more than one in five days in office at his golf courses instead of in Washington, D.C.
