New York Times PR Team Hilariously Responds To Trump’s Tweet About Them

Over the weekend, news began to circulate about several top Republicans taking steps to make it possible for Vice President Mike Pence to run for office in 2020 to replace President Trump. Naturally, the president was not very pleased when he heard about that story, which was originally reported by The New York Times.

On Monday afternoon, in between his attacks on Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut), President Trump found time to criticize The Times as well. He claimed for what feels like the millionth time that the newspaper is “failing.”

Seemingly in response to the story about Pence possibly replacing him, Trump posted the following tweet.

Trump has repeatedly attacked The Times, but this latest tweet seems to have been the last straw. Shortly after it was posted, The Times‘ PR department responded and informed the president that his arguments about the paper failing are nothing more than “fake news.”

The PR team first informed Trump that his assertion was incorrect because the paper is “thriving.” They explained that it has more paid subscribers than ever before — 3.3 million — and is also enjoying “growing profit, income and revenues.”

The team then went on to address the specific story to which Trump seemed to be referring. They said that, in preparation for the story, journalists from The Times spoke to over 75 Republicans who all shared information about the possibility of Pence running for president in 2020.

Plenty of people were quick to respond to the PR team’s tweets, and they made it clear in their comments that they’re glad the paper is taking a stand against the president and his petty attacks.
