Donald Trump, the person who frequently criticized President Obama for what Trump perceived as too much golfing, seems to do nothing but play golf, complain, bully people, and enable/encourage hate. The frequent extravagant vacations of Trump and his many family members have gotten to the point where it’s hard to keep up with who’s traveling where, and when.
Fortunately, it’s not as difficult to keep up with how much the Trumps’ travels are costing taxpayers in fact, the cost to protect the whopping 42 members of Trump’s family who are eligible for Secret Service security, has become so much that the agency is reporting that it can no longer pay to provide security for the Trump family.
Paramount of the reasons why the Secret Service is struggling to fund protecting the Trumps — the family is simply too big and travels too much for the agency to budget the Trumps’ security needs for their multiple homes, properties, and travels. USA Today reports that more than 1,000 agents are already reached their federally regulated max for pay and overtime that were supposed to last a whole year.
Trump has traveled almost every weekend since taking office, and his grown children are also known for frequent business and pleasure trips all over the U.S. and abroad.
Fiscal nightmares are the only problems the Trumps are creating. Apparently, the needy nature of the Trumps has also caused a mass exodus of employees from the Secret Service, causing a lack of staff to be yet another problem the agency has to deal with.
‘I don’t see this changing in the near term. Normally, we are not this tapped out. We cannot expect the Secret Service to be able to recruit and keep the best of the best if they are not being paid for these increases (in overtime hours). We have them working all night long; we’re sending them on the road all of the time. There are no quick fixes, but over the long term, I’ve got to give them a better balance (of work and private life) here.’
A report outlining how much is spent on cart rental, alone, for Trump’s golf getaways, is below:
