As Hurricane Harvey barrels forward toward land, it is growing bigger and more dangerous by the minute. The Category 3 storm has winds of 125 mph and thanks to the warm water it’s over, it is continuing to gain strength. News agencies have reported the storm can bring up to three feet of rain and 12 foot storm surges. Additionally, the storm has a high probability of hitting the state of Texas twice.
While many eyes will be on the storm, many will also be on President Donald Trump’s reaction to it. You can expect him to react solely on the Twittersphere. He reported a weather update via Twitter Friday afternoon.
Whatever reaction Trump has to the maelstrom will have a heavy impact on his approval rating and be an indicator of the level of competence of the Trump administration. Not to mention when 2020 rolls around, his ability to lead a country and provide much-needed relief quickly to the people affected by Hurricane Harvey will be a major talking point. Surely though, that does not matter to Trump, right? His main concern is centered solely on the people in the way of the storm, who will be displaced by the torrential rain, and lose their homes, right?
Based on history, it is doubtful. Back in 2012, Trump took to Twitter and projected Hurricane Sandy would be a good luck charm for Obama because then he would be able to “buy the election.” Literally, that is what he said. He tweeted:
Pretty disgusting, is it not? If these were his thoughts back then, what are his thoughts now?
Twitter users criticized Trump, and even brought up that same tweet. Additionally, they doubted his true intentions when it came to the soon-to-be victims of Hurricane Harvey. Some, however, simply sent their hopes and prayers to the affected, and as always, there were Trump supporters who declared their love for the man. You can see the responses below.
