Supreme Court Justice Issues Message To Colin Kaepernick Dripping In White Privilege

Colin Kaepernick, former star quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, still doesn’t have a job after having protested the conditions of African American life in the United States via kneeling during the national anthem. His actions set off a firestorm of criticism, with many asserting that kneeling during the anthem somehow disrespected anything and everything from the U.S. flag to those soldiers who “gave their lives” to support the flag.

Of course, members of the Armed Forces who have given their lives did so in service of the people of the United States, and not in support of artistic representations of the United States, but that difference is lost on the haughty conservative reactionaries.

A new group of football players have now followed Kaepernick’s lead, kneeling during the national anthem at a Monday night preseason game against the New York Giants — and in so doing, they have enraged a judge who sits on the Ohio Supreme Court.

The players who took part in the pregame silent protest explained to the Washington Post that they were saddened that they felt the need to do such a thing, but even still, they wanted to stick up for all the various minorities in American society.

Monday’s game was the first time that white players participated in the protest popularized by Kaepernick. One of them, tight end Seth DeValve, explained that he has a personal stake in the issue of equality for African Americans since he is married to an African American woman and will be “raising children that don’t look like me.”

He explained:

‘The United States is the greatest country in the world… The issue is that it doesn’t provide equal opportunity to everybody… We wanted to draw attention to the fact that there’s things in this country that still need to change. I myself will be raising children that don’t look like me, and I want to do my part as well to do everything I can to raise them in a better environment than we have right now.’

No matter how noble the players’ causes, Ohio State Supreme Court Judge Bill O’Neill is angry, calling the players “draft dodging millionaires” in a belligerent Facebook rant.

He wrote:

‘Congratulations Cleveland Browns on your win. Unfortunately my season ended last night. I will NEVER attend a sporting event where the draft dodging millionaire athletes disrespect the veterans who earned them the right to be on that field. Shame on you all.’

Take note, Ohio — Judge White Privilege is an elected official. Thus, when he comes up for re-election, remember this incident.
