Earlier this morning, Hurricane Harvey was downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane, but the storm is far from over as one local Houston news station learned firsthand. Reporters at KHOU reported that they had to evacuate their studios due to the flooding.

Initially, the team reported that they were being forced upstairs due to the rising water levels, but, now, it appears that the studio has been evaluated entirely.

A few reporters also posted video of what was happening. As noted, at first the team tried to move operations to the second floor but were eventually forced to abandon the building.

This story is just one example of the danger and loss that the people of Texas are facing from Hurrican Harvey. While it has weakened, at its peak Harvey was the most powerful hurricane to hit the United States in more than a decade. Right now, it is too soon to know how many are dead though recent reports put the number at least five. It is unclear how many have been injured.

Economically speaking, there’s no telling how much it will cost to rebuild though recent estimates said the number could run in the range of billions of dollars. Of course, that number is only speculation based on past hurricanes and early reports. It is simply too soon to give a reliable estimate of the damage. Right now, authorities are rightly focused on trying to make sure everyone is safe.

As for KHOU, they tried to report for as long as they could and posted a live stream of their coverage to YouTube. However, the feed was eventually cut off as they were forced to leave the studio.
