Donald Trump threw yet another fit on Twitter early this morning, and true to form, spent part of it attacking President Obama for no reason.
“We have made more progress in the last nine months against ISIS than the Obama Administration has made in eight years. Must be proactive & nasty!” Trump tweeted. Well, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright isn’t standing for Trump’s lies. In a segment with CNN, Albright — who worked under President Bill Clinton and was the first woman to work the position — blistered Donald Trump for his inability to tell the truth.
“It would be really nice if President Trump actually thought about what he was doing rather than always blaming president Obama,” she told CNN. She went on to point out that there has been very little change between the Obama administration’s policies and the Trump administration’s, responding “not particularly” when asked if she saw a difference.

What’s also unclear is whether Donald Trump even knows what ISIS is. Despite being founded in 1999 as an organization, ISIS only became a real threat, known around the world, in 2014, with the Iraqi Civil War and the fall of Mosul. Before attaining that level of infamy, there was no real “war with ISIS.” Thus, saying you’ve done more in the “last nine months” than Obama did in “eight years” does not make any sense. There was nothing to be done eight years ago, because ISIS in its current form did not exist.
The group only proclaimed itself a caliphate on June 29, 2014. Expansion into Syria occurred after that, with the largest expansions coming during 2015. Now, territorial losses and “defeat” are occurring for ISIS right on schedule — a schedule laid out by the Obama administration. It seems that there is an excellent possibility that Donald Trump thinks al-Qaeda and ISIS are the same thing. And while it may be excusable in everyday American society to not know the difference between various insurgent groups, if you’re the Commander-in-Chief and like to think you’re leading a war against them, knowing the details is a bit more important. With his latest tweets, Trump showcased his ignorance yet again.
