The Trump administration, like many before, issues a weekly address to update the nation on the current happenings of the country and the state of things in Washington. Trump shared his address to Twitter on Friday, with an all caps caption, reading “WEEKLY ADDRESS.”
WEEKLY ADDRESS?? pic.twitter.com/MsaLA9POAt
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 15, 2017
In the address, Trump covers one thing straight off the bat, the devastating effects of the hurricanes that recently tore through the country. The president reiterating the same message we have heard from him many times. The message being, that he is working on helping those impacted by the storms and that it is within the American values to help fellow Americans. Hopefully, you catch the irony in this statement, considering Trump’s decision to revoke the DACA program recently.
Trump went on to talk about the anniversary of the American constitution, which again, is ironic, due to the fact that many of the things Trump has done within his time in office are considered to be unconstitutional.
Nothing Trump said during his weekly address seems genuine. There seems to be no real emotion in his words, and his face looks similar to someone who would be squinting trying to read something off of a cue card or prompter.
Twitter, of course, did not let that slip by unnoticed. Users of the social media site were quick to call the president out on his lack of genuine emotion, and the fact that he is a hypocrite on all levels.
