In a move that surprised the entire audience, someone made a surprise appearance at the Emmy awards Sunday night during Stephen Colbert’s monologue.
A few days ago it was reported that Melissa McCarthy from NBC’s Saturday Night Live was in line to receive an Emmy for her portrayal of the former Trump administration press secretary, Sean Spicer. McCarthy made a perfect Sean Spicer, over-emphasizing the characteristics that annoyed us most about him.
When the real Sean Spicer walked onto the stage behind a rolling podium, the audience probably assumed it was McCarthy performing one of her trademark antics. As Spicer began to speak, the audience went wild.
Starting out with a statement about the audience size, Spicer did not disappoint:
‘This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmy’s, period, both in-person and around the world.’
As many of you remember, Spicer made a similar comment during his first White House press conference regarding the size of the audience that attended the inauguration of Donald Trump. It is good to see Spicer adjusting to life outside the White House with his sense of humor intact.
