If viewers learned anything from the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, it was that Hollywood is representative of the state of California in their views on Donald Trump. To put that in plain terms, they despise his misogynistic, xenophobic, racist views and policies.
From the opening act to nearly every acceptance speech, the Emmy Awards served as one long roast of the new president. Of course, the overly sensitive Donald Trump struggles with any and all criticism, so the man who insulted his way to the White House sent minion Kellyanne Conway to Fox & Friends to complain about insults to the president.
‘It’s the sameness. They got plucked and polished and waxed and some of them didn’t eat for two months. And all for what? To sound the same?’
Conway complained again about “91 percent of the coverage of President Trump” being negative on a television network for which 100 percent of the coverage of President Obama was negative for eight years. The show’s hosts pandered, nodded their heads, and agreed with the outrage over insults to a president who was not even elected by popular vote and yet still doesn’t understand that the majority of the American public cannot stand him despite his obviously plummeting poll numbers.
‘You are showing the world that you’re so easy with an insult about our leader. I think that’s really unfortunate.’
As hard as it is to believe, these statements really were made by a mouthpiece for the leader of an administration that continues to insult his predecessor, who is no longer in office, and his political rival, Hillary Clinton, who is no longer running for any office.
