After Laura Packard, a woman with stage IV cancer, criticized the newest GOP healthcare plan, Donald Trump, the president of the United States, felt the appropriate response would simply be to block her. It’s worth noting that courts have previously ruled that an elected official cannot block constituents who criticize them. As the Supreme Court has not yet ruled in such a case, it remains to be seen whether Trump can block people without violating the Constitution.
In any case, the blistering Chelsea Clinton just gave him was both brilliant and pointed — while (as usual) taking the high road, using facts, class, and respect. In response to Trump’s childish decision to block Laura Packard, she had this to say:
Dozens of replies quickly poured in, showing solidarity against deeply unpopular White House occupant Donald Trump:
Trump, who is doing everything he can to get the Graham-Cassidy bill passed, is not interested in listening to the voices of the American people, unless they’re telling him how great he is. The newest version of GOP “health care” would kick 30 million off insurance, impose lifetime caps, deny preexisting conditions, and has been roundly condemned by the entire medical community. There is nobody who wants this bill passed except Republicans and insurance companies.
In short, this bill would be a complete and utter disaster for the nation. This isn’t about helping Americans, because it won’t. It is 100 percent about attempting to destroy the legacy of President Barack Obama, because that’s the one thing Republicans can agree on. They certainly can’t figure out how to govern the country, or promote national unity. Donald Trump is the most divisive president in modern history.
Even Jimmy Kimmel, who experts agree is a better source for factual information than the authors of the health care bill, created an excellent segment calling out Senator Cassidy (R-LA), specifically, for his lies, which you can watch below:
