Last year, news broke of a possible dossier floating around, just waiting to deliver a dose of public humiliation that even Trump could not withstand. The dossier was compiled by a former British spy who was paid to assemble the evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia. That evidence, however, proved to be overwhelmingly mysterious, and flat out scandalous.
From odd meetings for the purpose of botching the 2016 U.S. election to romps with Russian hookers in which Trump allegedly asked to be urinated on, the dossier is a key piece of Trump’s upcoming impeachment.
According to NY Times in 2016:
“Parts of the story remain out of reach — most critically the basic question of how much, if anything, in the dossier is true. But it is possible to piece together a rough narrative of what led to the current crisis, including lingering questions about the ties binding Mr. Trump and his team to Russia. The episode also offers a glimpse of the hidden side of presidential campaigns, involving private sleuths-for-hire looking for the worst they can find about the next American leader.”
Now, however, that dossier has resurfaced in media headlines, and has landed on special counsel Bob Mueller’s desk. Mueller has declined to comment, but people in his loop say the sex dossier has taken over the investigation.
According to Reuters:
“Trump was told by former FBI director James Comey that Steele’s report contained salacious material about the businessman-turned-president.”
On Wednesday, senate panel chairman Burr said:
“The committee cannot really decide the credibility of the dossier without understanding things like who paid for it, who are your sources and sub-sources.”
According to the panel, the author of the dossier, Christopher Steele, has turned down multiple requests to speak with Burr about the information contained within.
It’s only a matter of time before the details of this dossier hit media airwaves and Trump is irreparably damaged.
