In the midst of the current debate over common sense gun reform laws, another example of the reasons why that debate is so necessary was reported on Monday night.
According to Dallas News, a campus shooting was reported at Texas Tech University by the school’s police department. Details continue being updated as of 9:53 PM EST.
‘The university reported the alleged shooting at 8:23 p.m. on Twitter. The campus is on lockdown and students, faculty and staff were urged to take shelter…The shooter remains at large, the university said. No description of the person has been released.’

The shooter is confirmed to be a student at Texas Tech.
‘Texas Tech police made a welfare check at a student’s room earlier in the night and found evidence of drugs and drug paraphernalia, university spokesman Chris Cook said.
‘When they brought the student back to the campus police station for a debriefing, the student reportedly pulled out a gun and shot an officer in the head, killing the officer, he said. ‘
10:33 PM EST Officials confirm that the shooter is in custody.
