Something that is quite common in dictatorships is the fact that people are continually praising their leader. Granted, the only reason why they are honoring their leader is that they’ll end up dead if they don’t. However, that’s always seemed to be far-fetched, especially considering how America has always valued the freedom of speech in the United States.
However, right now America seems to be in the Upside Down. So, in the Upside Down, it would make sense for the White House to basically push out propaganda that consisted of nothing but praise from Cabinet Secretaries in the Trump administration. Out of all the issues the White House could have addressed, they released a statement containing only quotes from Trump’s Cabinet appointees that lavished him with praise regarding immigration reform. The statement was titled, “WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: PRAISE FROM THE PRESIDENT’S CABINET FOR THE NEW IMMIGRATION PRIORITIES.”
First up on the list was, of course, Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump lover and nibbler of Keebler cookies, he professed his loyalty, love, and devotion to Trump.
‘I applaud President Trump and urge Congress to listen to the American people and swiftly pass these commonsense proposals into law.’
An important figure included in the statement was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Tillerson was recently alleged to have called the president a “fucking moron.” He never outright denied the allegations. It’s understandable he needs to save face with the president, who is rumored to be infuriated with Tillerson for not outright denying the allegations. He commented:
‘The President’s new immigration priorities are focused on keeping Americans safe, ensuring our sovereignty through strong borders, and preserving our country as a nation of laws… President Trump’s measures will end vulnerabilities in our immigration system that hinder our ability to protect our homeland.’
The U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, promised that Trump’s proposals would be “money well spent.”
When selling an idea or a product, it’s always a good idea to have testimonials. You see them a lot on infomercials. The problem is these aren’t testimonials from immigration groups, Democrats, or Hispanic groups. The comments come straight from the people Trump chose for his cabinet. They come from the people Trump can also fire easily. As many have said, they serve at the pleasure of the president. If the president is displeased, they won’t serve for long. So, this isn’t a fair and unbiased look at Trump’s proposals and how people feel about them. Not to mention, it’s downright creepy.
