President Trump recently responded to rumors about Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calling him a “moron” by saying that, if the rumor turns out to be true, the two of them will need to “compare IQ tests.” He said during an interview with Forbes that was published on Tuesday:
‘I think it’s fake news, but if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win.’
This remark has given plenty of people fodder for jokes about the president’s lack of intelligence, including former Mexican President Vicente Fox.
On Tuesday afternoon, Fox responded to Trump’s remarks by tweeting at him and asking him some basic questions about North Korea and Puerto Rico. He first tweeted:
‘@realDonaldTrump don’t take that IQ test. Just answer this: You know the name of North Korea’s leader, right? Is it -Un or is it -Il?’
He then asked him another question about whether or not Puerto Ricans are American citizens. Fox also managed work in a joke about Trump’s recent visit to the island, during which he tossed rolls of paper towels into a crowd of people waiting for supplies.
‘@realDonaldTrump, another one: Puerto Ricans have been American citizens since 1917: true of [sic] false? Get it right and earn a toilet paper.’
Many of Fox’s followers responded to his tweets with their own jokes about Trump.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said during a press briefing on Tuesday that Trump was just joking when he said that his IQ is higher than Tillerson’s:
‘The President certainly never implied that the Secretary of State was not incredibly intelligent. He made a joke, nothing more than that.’
The president may have been joking originally. However, if people like Fox continue to bruise his ego with comments about his intelligence, Trump may end up deciding to face off with the secretary of state after all.
Charles Brown, the communications director for MENSA, the world’s largest and oldest high IQ society, has already said that the group would be happy to facilitate a comparison between Trump and Tillerson:
‘American Mensa would be happy to hold a testing session for President Trump and Secretary Tillerson.’
