President Trump recently took a break from harassing congresswomen and disrespecting the widows of fallen soldiers and returned to one of his favorite topics: the NFL. For weeks now, Trump has been busy attacking athletes who choose to kneel during the national anthem and referring to any player who does protest as a “son of a b*tch.”
His latest statement about the players who continue to kneel came on Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted:
‘@NFL: Too much talk, not enough action. Stand for the National Anthem.’
The president’s tweet was immediately met with criticism, as a number of people commented to let him know that athletes have every right to kneel during the anthem. Plenty of others also told him that telling a widow that her husband “knew what he signed up for” when he joined the military is a lot more disrespectful than kneeling to protest racism and police brutality.
