Recently, CNN reported that Trump was personally interviewing U.S. attorney candidates for prominent positions in Brooklyn and Manhattan. This is a highly unusual move, made all the more troubling by the fact that those attorneys general may be responsible for investigating various members of the Trump campaign, and possibly Trump himself, regarding Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. Senator Richard Blumenthal has called the meetings “troubling.”
‘What’s most alarming about the President interviewing these particular candidates for US attorney positions is that these chief federal prosecutors are going to decide whether to indict Trump campaign advisers or staff if there’s collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians proven and possibly consider criminal charges against the President himself.’
Blumenthal isn’t the only senator to speak out against Trump’s handling of these appointments. Sen.Dianne Feinstein(D-Ca.) took to Twitter to speak out against the president’s actions.
Feinstein’s comments drew a lot of support form Twitter users who called on Feinstein and her colleagues to handle the situation.
