President Trump was recently hit with a barrage of criticism after it was revealed that, on the day of the funeral for Sgt. La David Johnson — one of the U.S. Green Berets who was killed in Niger earlier this month — he was busy playing golf at his Virginia club.
After being slammed for hitting the links during a fallen soldier’s funeral, one would think that Trump might want to actually get some work done on Sunday. However, according to MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin, Trump arrived the club Sunday morning for his second day of golf.
‘Per pool, Trump has arrived at Trump Nat’l Golf Club in VA.
‘This is his 75th day at a golf club, 95th day at a Trump property as president.’
This is also the third weekend in a row that Trump has spent at his Virginia club.
Last weekend, he golfed with Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and hit the links again on Sunday with Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky). The weekend before that, he also played at the club with Graham.
Trump and his associates have regularly claimed that his golf outings are different from President Obama’s because Trump uses golf as a way to meet with his colleagues and make deals. However, ABC News reported on Saturday that Trump’s most recent trip to the club seems to be purely for leisure, as he hasn’t been joined by any other lawmakers.
Treating members of Congress to outings at his club does seem to be helping Trump to win them over, at least in Senator Graham’s case. After their Columbus Day outing, Graham, who has previously been critical of the president’s immigration policies, told Golf.com:
‘I ran out of golf balls. He started giving me golf balls. He’s a gracious host. They didn’t have the presidential seal. You know, they make TaylorMade golf balls in South Carolina. I’m going to have some made for him. They make them 10 miles from where I live.’
Despite the fact that he shared his golf balls, the rest of the country is less than impressed with Trump and the number of his trips he’s made to the course. After hearing about Trump spending yet another day playing golf, plenty of people took to Twitter to chastise him for not doing his job.
