Ultra-conservative radio host, Ann Coulter, has trouble seeing the difference between apples and oranges, apparently. She clearly cannot differentiate between a consenting adult and pedophilia.
The Republican’s candidate for Alabama senator, Roy Moore, is in hot water. When The Washington Post was doing an article on the election to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ seat, they came across a tragic story.
Moore offered to watch a 14-year-old girl at the courthouse while her mother went into court to fight for custody of her daughter. The Republican candidate did more than that.
Coulter tweeted a false comparison between John F. Kennedy’s consensual extra-marital affair and Roy Moore molesting a 14-year-old child. She wrote:
‘Hey Dems! JFK had an extra marital affair with 19-year old Mimi Alford when he was 45 years old.’
Coulter tried to defend the indefensible Moore by comparing him to President John F. Kennedy’s affair with 19-year-old Mimi Alford.
She missed the point entirely. One was an affair between two consenting adults. On the other hand, Moore used his power and position to take advantage of a girlĀ barely into her teens.
The former attorney took the child’s phone number and later drove her 30 minutes into the woods, where he started kissing her.
The man who became a judge picked the girl up a second time, and it was worse. He removed all but his and her undergarments and fondled her through her clothing.
Then, the man placed the little girl’s hand on his underwear, where his penis was erect. He was 32-years-old.
A very few Republicans believed the girl’s story, such as Senator John McCain of Arizona and former governor and presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
The remainder of the Republican Congress took the coward’s way out with a wait-and-see approach.
Alabama state auditor, Jim Zeigler, compared Roy Moore to Jesus’ mortal father, Joseph, and the girl he molested to Mary. Never mind that the Bible says Jesus was immaculately conceived, meaning there was no sexual contact between Joseph and Mary.
John Kennedy is one of the most revered presidents in history. His idea of service was in direct opposition to Donald Trump’s. Kennedy believed in honor, equality, and democracy.
Coulter asked the country to accept pedophilia andĀ liars, and in doing so, she contributed to the rotting core of democracy.
Yes, Kennedy had affairs. That was and remains wrong, but molesting children is a completely different animal, an ugly, disgusting animal.
The age of consent in the United States varies by state, ranging between 16-years-old to 18-years-old. A 14-year-old child cannot give consent, nor could she in 1979.
Fortunately, Twitter world has been holding Moore to account for his perverted behavior:
It is entirely feasible that Moore will win his election. Had Republicans grown a spine and condemned him, he might have lost.
It makes one wonder why so many Republicans cannot find it within their hearts to condemn the Alabama Republican’s illicit behavior.
Moore damaged a child for the rest of her life by his illegal acts. That is made even more despicable as the would-be senator hauls around Ten Commandment stone monuments.
Kudos to the woman who had the courage to open herself up to a barrage of condemnation. Congressional Republicans, this is what integrity, honor, and heroism looks like.
