Donald Trump, before winning office, had a lot to say about the presidency. He took particular issue with President Barack Obama’s vacations and days off, criticizing Obama’s golfing habit every chance he got. Indeed, on the campaign trail, Trump would often repeat the refrain “I’m not going to have time to golf. I’m going to be working for you.”

Now that he’s in office, Trump’s taken a somewhat different course of action. In fact, he’s the golfing-est person to ever reside in the White House. He’s actually using those trips to both relax and make money, as the government pays his own golf courses for him to go there. At this point, he’s spent over 101 days at Trump properties. In the above video, Trump says (speaking of President Obama), “He plays more golf than Tiger Woods!”

That’s actually funny, because today, Trump will be golfing with Tiger Woods:

At least it will be “quickly,” right? Dustin Johnson is currently the world’s top-ranked golf player. That’s right: Trump is using the presidency to just hang out with people. At his own properties. Which they’re probably paying to visit, thus enhancing the profile of Trump businesses as well as padding Trump’s pocket.

USA Today reports,

Since taking office, Trump has rarely acknowledged playing golf. In recent years, particularly during the 2016 campaign, he slammed President Obama repeatedly for playing the game, chiding his “work ethic” and even criticizing the president for going to Hawaii during the holiday and taking Secret Service personnel away from their families.

For his part, Trump pledged to largely forego golf while in office, saying he was “not going to have time to play golf.”

After a year in the Oval Office, however, published reports indicate he has played at least 34 times since the inauguration and has visited his golf courses more than 70 times.

In addition, the traveling press is rarely allowed to observe his rounds and aides traditionally decline to say when the golf is played.

USA Today, like most mainstream press organizations, is being accidentally misleading with their studiousness when it comes to accounting for Trump’s golf trips. See, they – and many other journalists – are uncomfortable saying things like “Trump lied.” They also won’t say that Trump is golfing unless they have direct, clear, confirmed evidence that he actually played golf. If he’s at a golf club, hiding from the press, not doing work, but reporters don’t directly see or photograph him golfing, they won’t say he’s golfing.

They’re so scared of overstating events that they’ll understate to the point of inaccuracy. Trump knows exactly how to manipulate the news; he’s been doing it for decades. Getting free coverage is one of his only actual skills.

Yet most people know better. Since there are unknowns, a fair assumption of Trump’s golfing habit would be a range. It’s likely he’s golfed 35-70 times since assuming office, and it’s very difficult to nail a number down within that range because of his habit of hiding his golfing.

Twitter immediately held him accountable for his golfing statement, as well as the blasé way in which he assumed he’s going to magically fix the Middle East (interesting that he says he “inherited” the problems there, as if it’s Obama’s fault. It’s a 1,000-year-old inheritance):

It’s almost as if Trump wants to outdo Obama in everything, including number of golfing trips, but he knows he won’t be in office nearly as long, so…

The incompetent-in-chief needs to resign.
