Former White House photograph Pete Souza has taken an awful lot of iconic photos. As the official photographer in President Obama’s White House, he captured many of the moments that will be remembered in our nation’s history.
These days, he’s up to other stuff, like trolling Trump.
After Trump’s false TIME magazine boast, where he said he “turned down” person of the year, TIME called BS on his claims. Now, not only is he being ridiculed for that, but Pete Souza just took aim at another sore spot for Trump: comparisons to Barack Obama. Trump hates President Obama. He’s made his political career off being the anti-Obama, with no real thoughts or ideas of his own. Did Obama like it? Then do the opposite! That’s Trump.
So the following post by Souza will almost certainly get under Trump’s skin. Souza posted a compilation image to instagram of all of President Obama’s TIME covers, with the caption, “Someone has a lot of catching up to do.”
Here’s the post in question:

The post has been extremely well received, garnering hundreds of thousands of positive interactions.
This is far from the first time Pete Souza has trolled Trump.
For example, in June, after a misogynistic comment from Trump about Mika Brzezinski, Souza posted a series of Obama throwback photos entitled, “Respect for women.”
When Melania dodged Trump’s hand and lit the internet on fire, Souza was there with a photo of President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama holding hands.
When Trump met with the Pope, who has criticized him often, albeit indirectly, there was an obvious coldness people took note of. Souza took the opportunity to highlight the very different meeting the Pope had with President Obama:
When Trump idiotically discussed national security concerns in an unsecured area at Mar-A-Lago, Souza was there to remind him of his inferiority:
When we were on the road, national security discussions and head of state phone calls were conducted in a private, secure location set up onsite. Everyone had to leave their Blackberry outside the area. In this photo, which was taken in March 2011 and subsequently released, the President holds a discussion in El Salvador following a conference call with his full national security team.
You can bet Trump has seen many of these at least as screenshots in his Twitter replies, so Souza is definitely getting under his skin. Keep up the good work!
