Donald Trump Jr. has played a crucial role in his father’s political career. During the campaign season, Trump Jr. attended a meeting with a Russian lawyer who supposedly had dirt on Hillary Clinton, which could hurt her chances of winning the election. Later, we found out that Don Jr. had also been in direct contact with WikiLeaks, an organization that the Clinton Campaign repeatedly referred to as “pro-Russian.”
Trump Jr.’s conversation with WikiLeaks lasted for a period of months. Trump Jr. himself released the full exchange of Twitter Dm’s he’d shared with the document-dumping organization.
Now Trump Jr. will meet with the White House Intelligence Committee in regards to the Russian investigation. The meeting, which CNN reports will take place behind closed doors, is scheduled for December 6th. It is expected that one of the primary topics discussed during the meeting will be the nature of Trump’s involvement with the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya.
The fact that Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer in the context of the 2016 election season only intensifies the suspicion that the Trump Campaign may have cooperated with the Russian government in order to skew the results of the election in favor of Trump.
The extraordinarily suspicious timeline of events regards potential collusion with Russia has grown nearly tedious at this point, as the list of questionable, eyebrow-raising events continues to expand. Though Putin continues to claim that he did not meddle in the election, the Mueller investigation continues to forge on.
At this point, Americans are more than ready to understand exactly what happened over the course of the campaign and election season. Perhaps Trump Jr.’s meeting with the White House will shed some light on the truth about the Trump Campaign’s relationship with the Russians.
