Republicans, for whatever reason, are convinced Democrats are Christmas-hating communists who have declared war on the major holiday and the little baby Jesus in a manger.

Of course, that’s not the case at all. Democrats simply want to respect the beliefs of others who may not necessarily celebrate Christmas – you know, like someone who celebrates Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. It’s just the decent thing to do.
However, according to Republicans and President Donald Trump, wishing someone a happy holiday is blasphemous and unpatriotic. Trump used that reasoning to try to shove the Republican tax scam legislation down the throats of Utahns during a rally on Monday.
Trump told Utahns the tax relief would be a “giant” gift to the American people, and it would usher in the revival of Christmas.
‘Now, we’re one huge step closer to delivering to the American people the historic tax relief as a giant present for Christmas.
‘Remember, I said we’re bringing Christmas back? Christmas is back bigger and better than ever before. We’re bringing Christmas back, and we say it now with pride.
‘Let me just say to those here today and all across the country, Merry Christmas to everybody.’

Seriously? Trump is trying to play Santa and deliver the greatest gift of all – a tax overhaul that would benefit the wealthy and hurt the middle class, and he’s trying to do so by using the affiliation of the word “Christmas” with Jesus Christ? Disgusting. Just disgusting.
What can you expect though from a guy who, while on his trip to Utah, rescinded 85 percent of the Bears Ears National Monument?
Can you really expect better from someone who literally called the widow of a fallen soldier a liar?
Trump’s remarks in Utah weren’t the only boneheaded remarks he made Monday. He also expressed his dismay for former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn and how the FBI had destroyed his life but didn’t destroy Hillary Clinton’s. He also fully endorsed Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexually assaulting young girls years ago.

The only thing that Trump could give us that would be close to a Christmas miracle would be his own resignation. However, we aren’t holding our breath. All we can hope for is a holiday miracle delivered by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for all Americans.
