It’s become a fact of life at this point that the president is never going to stop belligerently addressing slights to his public image on Twitter. His tweets often have little regard for reality; if Trump says that you’re wrong, in his world you’re wrong, no matter whether or not his ridiculous tales about you actually have any grounding in reality or not.

In this light, it was no surprise when the president took to Twitter this Tuesday with grandiose claims in response to a resurgence of sexual harassment and assault claims against him. People magazine has now come out on Twitter with a biting rebuttal to Trump’s denial of the sexual harassment and assault claims against him, which include allegations from a former employee of the magazine.

Trump has been accused by over a dozen women of various forms of misconduct, allegations that are supported by some of his own comments that have been caught on tape.

Recently, as People reports, four of the women accusing Trump of misconduct have come forward to demand that in a time that sexual misconduct is being treated with the seriousness it deserves, their stories are not forgotten. The women, including Samantha Holvey, Rachel Crooks, Jessica Leeds, and Melinda “Mindy” McGillivray, want a Congressional investigation into their stories and those of the other women accusing Trump of misconduct.

Trump responded to this development in the case against him by belligerently suggesting on Twitter that the allegations against him are part of the same make believe fake news conspiracy against him that birthed the Russia scandal. In posting such a thing, he remains willfully ignorant of the fact that it’s not exactly hard to see why the Russia scandal is the big deal that it is. His closest advisers, including, for example, Michael Flynn, maintained secret connections to Russian officials that they lied about.

Writing on Twitter this Tuesday morning, Trump said, in part:

‘[T]he Democrats have been unable to show any collusion with Russia – so now they are moving on to the false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don’t know and/or have never met. FAKE NEWS!’

In the future, the president would do well to think through his defenses more fully before posting them to Twitter and incriminating himself as, at the very least, a liar yet AGAIN.

The president wants you to think that he doesn’t know the women accusing him of misconduct, right? As People points out, that’s — as the president would call it — fake news.

The publication posted an image of their former correspondent Natasha Stoynoff with Trump, which was taken at the time of the alleged incident.

Check out their tweet below.

Stoynoff tells the story of her abuse at Trump’s hands as follows:

‘Donald wanted to show me around the mansion. There was one ‘tremendous’ room in particular, he said, that I just had to see. We walked into that room alone, and Trump shut the door behind us. I turned around, and within seconds he was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat.’

Trump has produced no real evidence of Stoynoff’s claims being false. The White House recently pointed to a list of supposed eyewitnesses corroborating Trump’s denials of his alleged misconduct, but that list is not credible.
