It was reported by the Washington Post, on Saturday, that Andrew McCabe, Deputy FBI Director, would be resigning. McCabe reportedly will consider the possibility of starting his retirement in March, the month in which he will be eligible to receive full benefits.
President Trump did not appear to take kindly to this news, going on a full blow Twitter rampage against McCabe, claiming that he is “racing the clock to retire with full benefits.”
In 2015 McCabe’s wife ran for Virginia state Senate and received a rather large donation toward her campaign from a political action committee, spearheaded by Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe has close connections to the Clinton’s, which of course gives the president all the ammunition he needs to attack McCabe on that front as well, which he as done in the past. The president tweeted:
‘How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?’
Trump’s barrage of hate against McCabe may not stem from his retirement plans at all, but instead what was said during the hours of closed-door testimony that McCabe recently provided to members of three congressional committees probing Russia’s interference in the election and the FBI’s handling of federal probes.
McCabe stated that he could back Comey up in his claims of strange conversations between Comey and the president. Conversations the president claims never happened. Stay tuned, because we likely have not seen the last of Trump’s McCabe Twitter rants.
