Trump Tells Farmers To Thank Him For Privilege Of Voting For Him, Forces Standing Ovation

Donald Trump does a lot of things that no one expects, and certainly his conduct is far from what the American people should expect of their president. But on Monday, when President Donald Trump was speaking to an audience of farmers in Nashville, Tennessee he really kicked it up a notch.

From the moment President Donald Trump opened his mouth at this rally, it was doomed to be a mess. In the first few sentences he spoke, he claimed that American people ought to be thanking him for the “privilege” of voting for him. He began:

‘We are streamlining regulations that have blocked cutting edge biotechnology, setting free our farmers to innovate, thrive and to grow…Oh, are you happy you voted for me. You are so lucky that I gave you that privilege…The other choice wasn’t going to work out too well for the farmers, I hate to — or the miners, or anybody else.’

Well, that’s one way to start a speech, especially one which you knew was going to be broadcast live, per Twitter earlier in the week:

Before the American Farm Bureau Federation, Trump demanded a standing ovation. President Trump told Americans that thanks to tax reforms his administration put through, they’d be able to “keep your farms in the family.”

When the audience began clapping, Trump said:

‘Get up.’

As if that wasn’t enough, Trump followed up with rambling about how that ovation was a “tough one to get” and insinuated that had they not stood, they didn’t love their families. He is not doing a spectacular job convincing Americans he is the “very stable genius” he believes himself to be, with comments like that.

‘That was a tough one to get. That was a tough one. Obviously you love your families, otherwise, you wouldn’t be standing for that one.’

Trump also ranted about immigration and worked to inspire aggressive patriotism in his audience, urging Americans to protect the nation’s flag.

He remarked:

‘We are going to end chain migration, we are going to end the lottery system, and we are going to build the wall.’

Despite all of this, President Donald Trump appears to still be proud of his performance, tweeting about it two more times since:
