Oprah Winfrey is a much beloved personality worldwide. She has single-handedly built an entertainment empire and according to Forbes, has an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion. While the bulk of her fortune came from her talk show days, Oprah also owns a television network (OWN), is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, oh and she’s quite the accomplished actress too. There’s not a whole lot the hard working Oprah can’t do. She’s been successful at every step along the way, and if she’s had any failings we’ve not heard of them. If things go like her fans, especially Democrats, want she could be taking on the most powerful job in the world…president of the United States. Her speech last night at the Golden Globes was powerful and so well received that people immediately started saying she should run for president in 2020.
Naively, the White House was all for it. According to NBC News, White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley told reporters aboard Air Force One in response to buzz about Winfrey’s possible future foray into politics:
‘We welcome the challenge, whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else.’
Apparently Donald Trump’s lackeys think he’d be up to the challenge of competing against one of the most powerful woman in the world. Since Trump proved that our president no longer has to have political experience, Oprah should be a shoe-in for the win. Trump can’t compete or compare with her class, intelligence, star power, or probably even her wealth. The only things he can beat her at are bankruptcies and ripping off people who contract to do work for him. That’s it! She outclasses him every step of the way. He has a horrible reputation. She has a spotless one. He’s really not a very successful businessman. She’s one of, if not the very best businesswoman in the world. She says “Me, too.” He’s the reason several women have had to say “Me, too.”
Sadly we may never get to see her win in a landslide. There are competing views coming from those closest to her. One source says that Oprah most definitely won’t run and says that comes straight from the mogul herself. However her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, said it would be up to the people to decide if they want her to run. If they do, then she would jump in the race. It would be glorious if she would. She could immediately start healing a lot of wounds Trump has caused to this country. She’s so popular the world over that she would help us regain a lot of our allies that no longer trust us. She would practice the decorum that the president of the United States should use at all times.
In her Golden Globe speech she talked about how powerful it was watching Sidney Poitier win the best actor Oscar in 1964. It was powerful to her because he was the first man of color to win the award:
‘I remember his tie was white, and of course his skin was black, and I had never seen a black man being celebrated like that. I tried many, many times to explain what a moment like that means to a little girl, a kid watching from the cheap seats as my mom came through the door bone tired from cleaning other people’s houses.
‘In 1982, Sidney received the Cecil B. DeMille award right here at the Golden Globes and it is not lost on me that at this moment, there are some little girls watching as I become the first black woman to be given this same award.‘
Just imagine how all those little girls would feel watching her become the first woman president. It would be an historic day indeed and one no one would ever forget or regret. Here’s what Twitter users feel about the White House’s challenge.

At least she cares about people, and has a strong head on her shoulders. She's empathetic, something the current POTUS has never been and will never be. She actually has built a business empire from nothing, ethically and fairly.

In a 9 minute speech, @Oprah was more presidential than the current occupant of the White House has been for an entire year.
