BREAKING: Another GOP Official Is Facing FBI Investigation & It Doesn’t Look Good At All

On the national front, the GOP is crumbling due to Mr. Trump’s toxic presidency and Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s continued probe into possible collusion during the 2016 election. However, the Republican party is also being tainted around the country by corrupt officials as well.

Missouri Governor Eric Greitens has now been accused of blackmail and is facing calls to resign his office only a year into his job. According to CNN:

‘While the FBI has not commented on the existence of any inquiry or formal investigation into Greitens, the St. Louis circuit attorney’s office announced last week that it is investigating Greitens’ conduct following an explosive story that forced the Republican governor to acknowledge having had an extramarital affair and confront an allegation of blackmail.’

Greitens’ lawyer, James Bennett, said that Governor Greiten:

‘has not been contacted at any time by the FBI, and we are not aware of any interest by the FBI in this personal matter that took place years ago.’

An FBI spokeswoman told CNN:

‘It is the long-standing policy of the US Department of Justice that the FBI does not confirm or deny the existence of an investigation.’

It is not really clear as to the scope of the FBI investigation or when it began, but one 22 year-old man who worked on Greitens’ transition team in December of 2016 said that he was interviewed by the FBI in November 2017. CNN reported:

‘Eli Karabell told CNN in a phone interview that his conversations with two FBI agents lasted about an hour. He did not offer specifics on what he told the agents, and it is not clear whether the conversation Karabell said he had with the FBI was related to the open inquiry that the two US officials confirmed to CNN.’

A local TV station in Missouri just broke the story about Greitens’ extramarital affair about a week ago. CNN reports:

‘The ex-husband of the woman alleged to have had an affair with Greitens said Greitens blackmailed his ex-wife during a sexual encounter. ‘

CNN affiliate KMOV obtained a recording where a woman can be heard saying:

‘He used some sort of tape, I don’t what it was, and taped my hands to these rings and then put a blindfold on me.’

Then, the woman said that Greitens said to her:

‘You’re never going to mention my name,’ otherwise there will be pictures of me (the woman) everywhere.’

Greitens actually acknowledged the extramarital affair before becoming governor, but still denies blackmail. Watkins, who represents the woman’s ex-husband, said that he provided law enforcement with “multiple hours of privately recorded conversations between his client and his ex-wife about her affair with Greitens.”

According to CNN:

‘Watkins told CNN on Monday that the contents of the additional recordings were sexually graphic, private conversations between his client and his ex-wife, and it is similar to what was released by KMOV last week.’

Apparently referencing the novel and film “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Watkins said:

‘”Fifty Shades of Greitens” — that’s not a terribly inappropriate moniker.’

Watkins has continually been pressed about the contents of the recordings, but only said:

‘There are only so many combinations of appendages and orifices.’

The woman who Greitens allegedly had the affair with “is extremely distraught” and wants privacy at this time.
