Bernie Sanders was an immovable force in the 2016 election, and it wasn’t until he was convinced that he was ensuring a Trump presidency by taking votes from Hillary Clinton, the DNC favorite, that he gave up the fight for the presidency. He gave up a chance at the Oval Office seat for what he believed was in the best interest of the country. We now know that he was wrong.
Since Donald Trump won the 2016 election, liberals have hoped Bernie would consider running against him again in 2020, and now, those dreams are becoming reality. According to POLITICO:
“Bernie Sanders convened his top political advisers in Washington on Saturday for a planning meeting that included a discussion of the feasibility and shape of a possible 2020 presidential campaign, half a dozen senior Democrats familiar with the gathering confirmed to POLITICO.”
According to various Democrats, Sanders said this during multiple attempts to persuade the senator to run again:
“I haven’t yet made a decision about 2020, but I still think beating Donald Trump is the most important thing for this country. And I want to be ready if I do decide to run.”
Some negative Nancy’s out there say that Bernie Sanders is too old to be president, to which we say, pfft.
Sanders is still exactly what America needs to get back on track, and improve what even President Obama didn’t attempt. Sanders has the experience, the success rate, and the moral compass that we truly need in a leader.
