On Monday morning, Mr. Trump took to Twitter again to make a fool out of himself. This time, he decided to attack the United Kingdom’s socialized healthcare system. He even claimed that the national healthcare system is “going broke” and “not working,” but got it all completely wrong and so many people are telling him so.
Various British folk have been responding including Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt who didn’t mince words with telling Trump how disgraceful it is that the United States has a healthcare system where millions have no coverage.
Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesman said:
‘The prime minister is proud of having an NHS which is free at the point of delivery. NHS funding is at a record high, and was prioritized in the budget with an extra £2.8bn. In the recent Commonwealth Fund international survey the NHS was rated the best in the world for a second time.’
The leader of the UK’s Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, also sternly slammed Trump’s comments with one simple message.
Despite their disagreements, the British generally love their national healthcare system and realize that healthcare is a human right, not something that should be tied to employment or a privilege only awarded to the wealthy. They are absolutely correct. Mr. Trump, his administration, and the Republicans should be ashamed that they want so much less for Americans.
Plenty of other people chimed in about the British system too:
