The president has always been inordinately sensitive to press depictions of his administration, so he’s not going to like the latest cover of the New York Daily News if he ever catches wind of it.
The cover, produced by a publication that, even though it’s from the belligerent businessman’s hometown, has lambasted him in the past, goes after him for his glaring hypocrisy put on display Monday during a speech in Ohio.
During that speech, he again brought up the topic of Democrats not having clapped during his State of the Union address, this time going so far as to suggest that the lack of clapping was — wait for it — treasonous.
In conjunction with his speech, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted in value, experiencing its largest single day loss in history. Although it remains to be seen just how the stock market turns out in the near future, for the time being, there’s yet another reminder of the fact that Trump’s impact on the stock market hasn’t exactly been that of a silver bullet or a pseudo-messiah, fixing all the problems of the world.
As easily as it can go up, it can go down, especially considering Trump’s relentless pro-corporation policy agenda, which stands to send the economy to overheating. Additionally, there are more indicators of the status of American society besides the stock market, since not everyone has enough money to invest, but unsurprisingly Trump mentioned none of this.
Lambasting him for his hypocrisy and seemingly blatant willful ignorance, the latest cover of the New York Daily News labels Trump a “day traitor.”
