The White House has been in turmoil from almost day one of the Trump administration. Think about the turnover rate.
In the first year, Trump lost his National Security Advisor (Michael Flynn), Deputy National Security Advisor (Dina Powell), FBI Director (James Comey), communications directors (Mike Dubke and Anthony Scaramucci), Director of Government Ethics (Walter Shaub), Press Secretary (Sean Spicer), Assistant Press Secretary (Michael Short), Chief of Staff (Reince Priebus), top advisors (Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka), and Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison (Omarosa Manigault Newman).
As staffers were fired, new staffers were hired, ostensibly brought in to create order amidst the chaos of the West Wing. Often considered the “grownups in the room,” two of these hires were H.R. McMasters (replacing Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor) and John Kelly (replacing Reince Priebus as Trump’s Chief of Staff).
Many of the staff departures were during the tenure of Kelly. Bannon, Gorka, and Omarosa Manigault Newman were a part if this house cleaning. Usually the reasons for firing were quite opaque. But in the case of Omarosa (who gained notoriety as a contestant on Trump’s reality show The Apprentice), we finally have a report of exactly why she was targeted by Kelly. According to POLITICO:
‘And in December, he dismissed the former director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, Omarosa Manigault, who had been using the White House car service — known as “CARPET” — as an office pick-up and drop-off service, something strictly forbidden by the federal government, according to three administration officials.’
What could possibly account for these reports outlining exactly why Manigault Newman was fired? It may be related to the fact that even from outside the White House, she is reporting on the chaos inside the administration. During her stint on Celebrity Big Brother she’s shed light on the true situation inside the West Wing:
Tonight On Big Brother: A tearful Omarosa tells Ross the Intern about Trump:
“I was haunted by tweets every single day, like what is he going to tweet next?”
"I tried" to stop him "but all the people around him attacked me."
