Donald Trump has an issue with women, especially strong women who have the audacity to tell him what to do. He seemed to enjoy himself in a photo taken with an adult entertainment star, but he was telling her what to do. The president was clearly pleased to be in a photo surrounded by his Miss Teen contestants, but again, he was telling them what to do. When former deputy attorney general, Sally Yates, came to him with a big problem, he fired her. Yet, he cannot silence her, as her powerful tweets show.
The president was running his cell phone hot with his morning tweets:
‘Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign – there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!’
Yates responded with this penetrating tweet, calling Trump “shameful:”
‘Incomprehensible pain and loss at a high school, yet again, and it’s children who are the leading voices for action. Meanwhile, our president uses the tragedy to attack the investigation of a foreign adversary’s interference in our democracy. Shameful.’
The FBI has enough agents to support John Mueller’s team working on the Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and another group of agents working the Florida area. The second group has been investigating an expelled shooter who mowed down 17 students and staff. Certainly, the president understood that.
This was not an instance of the FBI working on the Florida mass shooting or the Russian investigation. Trump’s tweet was only a weak attempt to divert attention away from the Mueller investigation. It has been closing in on the circle of people immediately surrounding Trump, such as his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Trump has begun to sound panicky in his latest tweets. After all, Mueller recently spent 20 hours with former White House chief strategist, Steve Bannon. The president and his top strategist had a falling out after Michael Wolff’s book, Fire and Fury was published. In it, Bannon called Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. “treasonous,” after he met with a group of Russians in Trump Tower.
Now, 45’s attorneys have begun working on the parameters of the president’s interview with the Mueller team. Fortunately, Yates did not let the president off on his switch-and-bait tweet.
