Trump Just Freaked Out On Oprah During A Crazy Monday Morning Twitter Rant

We’ve all long come to know the president as supremely obsessed with his public image. He stews all the time when there is an unfavorable depiction of him in the media, taking to social media regularly to shout about “fake news” and how great he thinks he is. Sure, he’s the president of the United States and so he has other things he should be doing besides posting angry messages to social media, but he prefers to occupy himself with the angry messages.

Sunday night was no different. On Sunday night, while at his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate, the president apparently decided to watch 60 Minutes, which this week featured talk show icon Oprah Winfrey interviewing a group of voters.

To Trump, who evidently thinks that all media should act as a propaganda arm of the state or something, the questions that Winfrey posed to these voters were heinous. If he’s so concerned with accuracy and fairness in media, you’d think that he’d be accurate and fair in his own remarks, but such is not the case. Instead, he’s literally been documented to have lied thousands upon thousands of times since taking office.

Going after Winfrey on Twitter Sunday night, Trump wrote:

‘Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!’

Ironically, the catalyst for the most recent round of talk about Winfrey possibly running for president establishes perhaps the most clear contrast possible between the president and the talk show host.

At this year’s Golden Globes Awards, she delivered an impassioned speech on behalf of the “#MeToo” movement, which exists to expose serial sexual harassers and assaulters and get them out of their positions of power.

Trump has not only failed to provide any significant support for the #MeToo movement, he remains himself credibly accused of sexual misconduct by numerous women.

Although the exact context for his remarks was a domestic abuse scandal inside his White House and not the #MeToo movement, he’s even commented in the past along lines that makes it clear that he’s not inclined to support victims of misconduct who come forward.

Again, though, Oprah has repeatedly indicated that she’s not actually interested in running for president.

After the first round of speculation after the Golden Globes Awards, Trump dismissed the significance of the talk show host’s potential candidacy then, too, telling reporters that he was sure he could beat her.

It’s far from a given that Trump would actually be able to beat Winfrey, with the odds seemingly stacked against him going into 2020, just like they were going into 2016, no matter which Democrat he faces. He filed for re-election sooner than any other modern first term president and seems to be hoping for a second fluke victory.
